4 Years of S&S

Oh my gosh, where have the last 4 years gone?! Four years ago today, I launched this little blog. I had no idea how much I would love blogging, how many amazing people I would meet, and NEVER did I think I'd keep up with it for four years. It has given me focus when I've needed it, given me a creative outlet when I've craved it, and given me a few sleepless nights when I've unnecessarily stressed about it. By most standards, I'm a very small fish in a big pond of blogging. But I am so proud of it and the journey on which it has taken me. It's fun. It was fun then and it's still fun now, so I'm going to keep going as long as I'm enjoying it (Instagram algorithm be damned).

I thought I'd spend a few minutes (which turned into almost 2 hours) going through some of my old posts. This one above was from 2014 and one of my favorites at the time. I still wear that Kate Spade jacket every spring! Some of the looks are a bit cringe-worthy now, but at the time, I was so proud of each and every post. It's so fun to look back and see my transformation as a professional, as a girlfriend/fiance/wife, and as a self-proclaimed stylist at heart. I hope you enjoy looking back at some of my favorite looks!
Seven & Stitch & Skulls
This was the photo shoot that launched it all. I was so proud of that Alexander McQueen scarf and my all black. I would still wear a variation of this outfit today (with some slightly longer pants...). My friend, Chelsea, took all of my pictures while we were still in grad school. I owe so much of the start of this blog to her!
Black on Black on Grey
I thought these faux leather leggings and wedge sneakers were Remember wedge sneakers? I don't hate it.
Seeing Stripes
I still love this little Kate Spade striped coat and still wear it in the spring.
Short Overalls
This look was from 2014 and I thought I was ahead of the trend bringing back the overalls. I still have these and still wear them!
Mad About Mara
As I was wrapping up my MBA and got my job offer, I splurged on this dress. At least, it felt like a major splurge at the time. It's been sitting in my closet for a while but looking back on it makes me want to break it out again this summer. Is it still cool?
This is one that makes me cringe a bit, but I'm also jealous of my 2014 hair and skinny arms.
Skirt Revisited
This was from my first shoot down in Charleston with the lovely Katie Fiedler. Now Katie is a successful interior design and architecture photographer and her work is beautiful! I still love this shot and the Charleston colors and shutters in the background.
Copy Cat
Another favorite from one of my first Charleston shoots with Katie. The headband and tutu are a little much for me today, but this is a shoot I will always love no matter how far it goes out of style.
Boho Babe
This was one of my favorite shots for a long time! I actually need to swap it out on my blog homepage. But it still makes me smile.
Alice + Olivia
Ok I still love these pants and wish they fit a little looser like they did back in 2014.
This was when I moved back to Indianapolis! We lived right across from the public library and this pretty little courtyard.  I loved this skirt. And I loved downtown shoots with Caroline Grace.
#TBT: 90's Style
I still have this sweatshirt and still love bringing back the GAP logo.
Black on Black
This faux leather jacket is a favorite of mine. And this look solidified my decision to cut my hair short again.
Best Pants Ever
I LIVED in this outfit throughout the summer of 2016.
Ruby + Abby
How fitting that Stacy Able took my favorite picture of Ruby and me?!
Happy May
I was SO happy in this picture because it was the weekend before our wedding. The weather had just turned to feel like spring and I was so excited for the week ahead. This is still one of my all-time favorite casual looks. Thanks to the amazingly talented Vanessa Soto.
Tie Front and Button Down
This dress is super comfy and this bag was a blogger favorite last year. I look slightly confused in this photo, I don't know why I like it so much!
White Tiers
I love the way this little tiered dress came together with my favorite J.Crew denim jacket.
Fall Overalls
This is probably my favorite shot of all time (at least for now). I was a little worried about how my scarf would pair with the overalls and mules, but I love the way it turned out, and I love the cute little storefront in the background. Anna Papazian worked her magic on this one!
It has been so much fun reflecting back on where this all started, and how far it (and my personal journey) has come. To some, my following may be modest...but I am so proud of S&S. Thank you for following along, it means the world to me. Here's to the next four years!

  1. I’ve had a couple of events at this location. The only thing that would have made these guys from San Francisco wedding venues better would have been better communication in the earlier planning stages, but it all worked out great in the end.
