Happy May

Hi, it has been a while! JR and I have officially been married for a little over two weeks, and I took a much needed break from...well...just about everything after the wedding. We got married on Saturday, April 15 and headed to St. Lucia bright and early on Monday the 17th. I disconnected, shut down, spent some time with my new husband and read 3 books in 5 days. Now it's already May!

It actually wasn't too bad coming home from the honeymoon and getting into the swing of things. One of the things making it a little easier to come back to reality was the beautiful weather! We've had a pretty mild spring and up until this past weekend, it has been sunny and warm. I've been able to wear this little Madewell button-down on repeat. I love it paired with my cropped flare jeans and favorite Sam Edelman sandals from last year.

But another thing that made coming back to reality easier is that even though the wedding and honeymoon were so great, they were still somewhat normal days! Don't get me wrong, we had an amazing wedding day and a great vacation for our honeymoon. But I think we tend to build up these events to be perfectly magical...but at the end of the day, JR and I are just...us. We weren't some love-drunk, perfect versions of ourselves on our honeymoon -- we were happy, and on a bit of a high from the wedding, but I spent plenty of time lounging around catching up on Bravo TV shows and books for book club. JR watched the Pacers. And there were still little moments of annoyance and (very minor) bickering. Does that sound silly? To me, it's comforting, and a bit of an epiphany, to realize that no matter how much I build things up in my head for the future, JR and I will always just be us. That's why I married him and I cannot wait to see "us" through all of the future events and normal days that come our way.

  1. I just attended a wedding here and despite my absolutely strict taste, I had an amazing experience here and I thought to myself that this place is perfect! The food at NYC wedding venues is delicious and the ambiance is elegant.
