Hello, September

I said it on my Instagram post and I'll say it again, things have been crazy! I swear, I blinked and it was already the second week of September. But it feels like I have been saying that all year. In all seriousness, this has been the busiest year of my life. With work and travel...celebrating friends' babies and weddings and bachelorettes and planning of our own...and trying to find a house. But it has also been one of the most rewarding, fun, exciting years of my life.

For so long, all I wanted was to be settled. I know that sounds a little strange for someone who (at the time) was only in her early 20s. But having lived in a sorority house for three years, then up to Milwaukee for two, back to Bloomington for 1, a summer at home in Indianapolis, another year in Bloomington, then 9 months in South was really time to put down some roots last year. Especially since life's adventures took me on turns I never expected. There were a few really rough years, but I truly believe that those years were to test my strength and resilience and acceptance. And I hope it's fair to say I made it out on the other side a better person. Lord knows I learned a lot.

But while JR and I are so ready to settle into a house of our own, we have already had offers on two homes fall through (house hunting isn't as fun as it seems, it's hard work!). So I'm trying to soak up life without the pressures of a house and trying to enjoy these moments of not being so settled. I love the little apartment we share. It's our first home together, it's where we got engaged. But even more than this little downtown apartment, or any house we end up with, I love our life together. And no matter where we live, my life is better with him in it.
