cold shoulder

Happy Wednesday! Can you believe it's already mid-May? I feel like we were just celebrating New Years! I know it sounds a bit cliche, but life really does move quickly. And lately, I've had a little bit of trouble slowing down and enjoying the days as they come! I find myself worrying about the next trip, the next meeting, the next meal (I know some of you feel me on that one). What do you guys do to stay present? I'd love to hear your tips!

Part of staying present for me means actually putting down my phone when boyfriend comments that I've been looking at it too much. Or taking some time to play with Ruby when she jumps up on me rather than just (lovingly) pushing her aside. But I'll admit, it's hard! I'm really trying to enjoy the beautiful spring evenings at home and put my phone away during meals and family time. Aside from those daily activities, one of the other ways I stay present (silly as it may sound) is to hit the mall.

Hear me out. I'm not trying to have a Cher Horowitz moment here, but when I can just walk around by myself, do a little browsing, maybe a little purchasing...that's when I feel present. I take time to look around and touch things, smell things (helloooo anthro candles), and maybe stop at Blondie's for a cookie. I even find myself forgetting about my phone and ending up with (gasp!) missed calls and missed texts. I also don't have time to mosey around the mall every weekend, so it's like my personal little treat.

While I might complain about it sometimes, boyfriend does NOT like to come to the mall with me. So he's usually more than happy to say "take your time, see ya when you get home" once I tell him I'm heading to Keystone. So I took a little time this weekend to run by the Gap, and picked up a few things at 40% off. This cute, comfy off-the-shoulder top was one of the things I grabbed. I'm so happy I did -- it comes in a few colors, runs true to size (this is a small), and really is super comfortable.

If you've been following my blog for a bit, you might have picked up on the fact that I love yoga. Yoga is all well and good, and I should be attending classes more than I do, but sometimes a gal just needs an afternoon alone to do a little shopping. You know?
