#tbt: 90's style

Do you remember when life was all about jelly sandals and khaki overalls? When the cause of your most dramatic meltdown was when the new American Girl Doll catalog arrived? When TGIF was all about tween TV shows and not just a welcome break from the 40 (sometimes 50, 60) hour work week? I do. It was circa 1997.

Gap has been a staple label in my closet since...well, the 90's. I still love Gap jeans and I have a serious obsession with its GapBody and GapFit lines. So imagine my delight when I saw this little sweatshirt online. I vividly remember wearing my white t-shirt with "GAP" in navy blue block letters across the front for an entire (yes, entire) summer. So I thought I would give this little 90's nod an update with my favorite new heels (on serious sale) and Clare V. clutch. But...I couldn't resist throwing on my 1969 denim jacket. Because, what's a Gap ensemble without a touch of denim?

As much as I try to live in the present, sometimes you have to revisit the past. Sometimes it's painful, sometimes it's delightful (nostalgia is funny like that, don't you think?). But very, very few memories of my life as a kid, running around our cul-de-sac, spending days at the neighborhood pool, have any sort of painful shadow. I was so lucky to have an amazingly happy childhood, and for some reason, this little GAP sweatshirt brought a little of that back. Sometimes it's so nice to just pause and think about the lightness and blissful naivete of my life in the 90's.
