New Year, Lighter Life

I am all about a new year...a new beginning, a fresh start. Lord knows there have been times in my life when I've really needed a clean slate. Perhaps that's why I love January 1st so much. Now, I'm not being the end of New Year's Day, you're still the same person with the same habits. But there's something very powerful and invigorating about a symbol of starting clean.  Day one of the next 365. I very much believe in putting out into the universe what you hope to get back, and what better time to set a positive tone than on day one.

This past year has been a great one -- full of change and challenges and fun and love. So you may think that January 1st doesn't mean as much when you don't have as much to change. But I think that's where you're wrong. January 1st became all the more important to me this year because I wanted to reflect on my appreciation and gratitude for the past 12 months and really think about setting the tone for the next 12. And that's why this post is coming a few days late. My resolution for 2016 is to live lighter: in my thoughts, my weight, my many ways to lighten the burdens (both small and large) of life. And part of that is being light on myself -- not being too self-critical when I don't post on time or can't find the right words.

Any day is a good day to change your mindset. Any day is a good day to send out into the world what you hope to get back. Any day is a good day to be kinder to yourself and to others. Whether it be April 19th or January 1st, I wish you a life full of light. January 1st was my day to start living lighter...what will yours be?

  1. Great post, Abby! I've never been one to make resolutions or dwell on the New Year but last year brought many changes to my life and I am more excited than ever for this fresh start in a new year! See ya soon! :)
