Playing with Prints

Things have been crazy lately! Between moving back to Indianapolis, starting a new job, traveling for weddings/birthdays/visits to friends, and moving into a new apartment, I have barely had time to catch my breath. You've heard me say it before, but it's so easy to get caught up in the day-to-day. I find myself coming home from work, exhausted, only to have to run errands or stop by the grocery store and before I know it, it's 9:30 at night.

But I'm not complaining! I have come a long way over the past year-and-a-half, and I could not be more grateful for all the opportunities that I have been given (and grateful for those that I have worked hard for). I have found that in order to keep my mind focused on being thankful and calm, rather than stressed and anxious, it's crucial for me to carve out a little time every day (even if it's just 5 minutes) to regroup. Sometimes that's as easy as pausing in the morning to read one of my daily devotionals, and sometimes it means setting aside 2 hours for a yoga class.

Regardless of how much time you actually have, here's a little reminder: no matter how crazy life gets or how busy you are, taking a little time in your own head helps to kind of...reset the clock. Slow things down a bit. Take time to appreciate the beautiful weather, your favorite TV show, or even just a quick cup of coffee. I have found that in my twenties, it has been hard to keep my own identity. I was a student, girlfriend, ex-girlfriend, intern, graduate, girlfriend again, new hire, and now full-time strategist. All in under two years across three cities. In order to stay grounded in being Abby in the midst of all those changes, it has been so important to occasionally reconnect with myself. It takes effort, but it makes a huge difference.

Last week, taking time to regroup and reconnect meant working on my blog. It has been an amazing outlet for me and I love putting time and effort into these posts. And I could not be more excited to be back in Indy, working with an amazing new photographer! Caroline and I clicked immediately, and we had so much fun during this shoot on a Tuesday evening after work. I'm so excited to continue working with her and sharing beautiful pictures like the ones above featuring my favorite new little mini dress. I hope you enjoy!
