Blue Floral

I love wedding season. LOVE. What's better than dressing up, drinking wine, eating cake, and dancing all night?! I have always been obsessed with weddings (more-so than most 20-something girls), but it has only recently occurred to me that what I love most about them (even more than the unlimited wine) is the fact that the most important reason we all attend them in the first place is to celebrate two people who are madly in love.

Don't get me wrong, I love a designer gown and killer bouquet as much as the next gal, but what I look forward to most about my own (currently hypothetical) wedding is the promise to share the many years following the "big day." I don't just want a fiance or a groom, I want a partner. I want someone to appreciate me (flaws and mistakes along with strengths and accomplishments), and someone to make me laugh and smile every single day. I know, I know, marriage is not a fairytale. Relationships are hard work and they sometimes devastatingly end. But I want someone who is willing to stand by me through all of those highs and lows, someone who pushes me to be a better person, and someone who can share in the happiness that life can bring. That is what I wish for all of my beautiful bride and groom friends, and what I wish for the person who taught me about love in the first place.

I am lucky enough to be attending all of these weddings with an amazing guy and maybe, one day, my friends will be wishing the same blessings to me.

The sun sneaked behind a cloud right before we went outside to snap a few pics, but I had an absolute blast in this gorgeous skirt (even after getting caught in the rain). Congratulations to Nick and Nancy! And thanks, Jon Ryan, for being a good sport and humoring me by playing photographer.

Oui Oui

As much as I love getting all dolled up, I also love relaxing in shorts and a soft tee. This outfit was perfect for this weekend when the nights got a little chilly. Any my converse gave my feet a nice rest after wearing heels all night on Saturday for wedding festivities. What's your go-to summer lounge-wear?!

Seven other great comfy shirts: Gap, American Apparel, TOBI (this really is one of my go-tos), Splendid, Ann Taylor LOFT (love the Lou and Grey line), Vince, American Eagle

Friday Favorites: Fragrances

Floral Scents

Happy Friday S&S followers! Today I thought I would share a few of my favorite fragrances. I'm naturally attracted to flowery or powdery scents, which are perfect for summer nights. Chloe is my absolute favorite, and I frequently get compliments on it (thanks Laura for introducing me to Chloe in college!).  A few other favorites are listed below.

1. CREED Love in White: This particular scent will set you back a pretty penny, but it's great to give as a special gift for a special bride to wear on her wedding day. It's First Lady Michelle Obama's signature scent and the brand has a long history with royals and celebrities (Prince Rainier had wedding scent Fleurissimo commissioned by Henry Creed in 1956 for Grace Kelly). Definitely one to splurge on.
2. Chanel No. 5: I will never forget when my Aunt Kim gave me a bottle of Chanel No. 5 on one of my teen birthdays. She said "Every young woman should have a bottle of Chanel No. 5." She's right. Because of its long history, my boyfriend sometimes complains that it smells a bit like a grandma, but I still love spritzing on a dab when I'm feeling extra girly and fabulous.
3.  Chloe Eau de Parfum: Like I said, this is my personal favorite. It smells divine. Try it, you'll love it.
4. Prada Infusion d'Iris: This scent is flowery and fresh. Another great go-to for everything from a casual date night to a special wedding.

Feminine Bathroom 2

Now, most of the perfume bottles above are pretty enough to stand alone, but I love adding feminine touches to a dresser or vanity to give a little extra zuzsh..is that even a word? Anyway, try adding some pretty silk flowers (or real ones if you have the patience to change them frequently!), a pretty tray or candle, and some room resfresher.

Cropped

So, I have to admit. Once I got over my initial fear of wearing a crop top, I had to buy another. They're so fun and this style from TOBI.com is super comfy and comes in a variety of colors. I love how the sleek top balances out the patterned pants. Becuase when you're blessed with a pair of rather wide hips, flowy pants can be tricky. A tiny top helps keep the whole look in proportion. I plan on re-wearing this little number throughout the rest of the summer, and I'm excited to layer on a sweater and switch out the stilettos for little booties in the fall.

Seven other great (non-scary) crop tops to try: Forever 21, Free People, ParkerH&MASOS, Topshop for Nordstrom, Olivaceous

Printed Leggings Giveaway

In the winter, you will rarely find me in anything but leggings, boots, and a chunky sweater. And while I have been loving dressing in rompers, dresses, and shorts in this hot weather, we recently had a tiny bit of a cold front come through (cold, as in, less than 90 degrees). It was the perfect opportunity to change things up and wear these bright Agnes & Dora leggings in the evening after the temperature dropped a few degrees.

I was immediately drawn to this bold graphic print, and as soon as the leggings arrived, I started playing around with some different looks. I love the fact that I can throw these on with a baggy black v-neck and converse for a more casual vibe, or dress them up a bit with a flowy tank and bright statement necklace (don't you love how the orange in the print picks up the orange of my new J.Crew necklace?)

Not only do Agnes & Dora leggings come in literally hundreds of patterns and colors, but they are the softest, most comfortable leggings I have ever worn (and trust me, I have worn A LOT of leggings). I had so much fun wearing them that I want to give you the opportunity to score some! I'm teaming up with my girl Marieta and giving away one fun pair! Here's how to enter:

1. Follow @SevenandStitch on Instagram
2. Follow @Agnesanddorabymarieta on Instagram
3. Regram my Insta photo and tag both accounts
4. Winner will be announced on Friday!

Be sure to check out Marieta's Agnes & Dora Facebook account and browse all of the styles! She also has some great pencil skirts, maxis, and harem pants!

Matchy Matchy

One thing, among many, that I loved about being on a college campus was that I could check out what all the young girls were wearing. I know, I know, 26 isn't that old, but when you're surrounded by college girls age 21 and under at the bars every weekend, you start to feel like a grandma. Anyway, back to the clothes. This year was all about the crop top. Like, seriously. Crop tops with high-waisted shorts (which could go right, or very very wrong), crop tops with flowy pants, crop tops with skirts, crop tops with leggings - you name it, I saw a crop top with it. Not only does being 26 mean I feel a little old to pull off the cropped trend, but a slowing metabolism adds to the complexity of the situation. No crop top and low-rise shorts for this girl. I finally found a few ways (another post coming soon) to make it work for me. Here are my thoughts:
1. Matching prints draw the attention away from the bare belly.
2. A higher-rise, full skirt made me feel more comfortable about baring my midriff.
3. A little peek of skin goes a long way.
4. Above all else, have the confidence to just rock it.
